WEDDINGS
What is included in your wedding packages?
My regular wedding packages include 4+ hours of coverage, a second professional photographer with high-quality equipment and skills, an online gallery of your wedding images that you can share with friends and family, and a complimentary engagement or bridal portrait session. Beyond that, packages are customizable to match your needs and your budget. Please contact me for more details. These packages start at
Do you have small packages for smaller weddings, where only 1-3 hours of coverage is needed?
Yes, I have smaller packages that start at $750 per hour and include a credit for the digital image files or a complete set of 4x6 proofs. Smaller wedding packages are limited to non-Saturdays, unless you book within 2 months of the wedding date. These packages also include an online gallery. Only one photographer (Ellen LeRoy) is standard, unless you upgrade to a two-photographer package.
What do I need to do to reserve my wedding date?
To reserve your date, you need to send in a $500 deposit as well as a signed contract with your basic contact information. You do not have to commit to a specific package at this point. Your package choice and the balance are due one month prior to the wedding date.
How do your prices compare with other photographers?
In the major metropolitan areas, you will find my prices low relative to comparable photographers. For that reason, even with travel fees, I am often less than comparable New York City, Atlanta, Washington DC, and Charlotte photographers, for example. In the Carteret County area, you will find that I am one of the more expensive photographers, but you will also find that very few other photographers offer the same level of quality, skill, equipment, or a second highly-skilled photographer (which allows simultaneous coverage at different locations, "insurance" for equipment failure during once-in-a-lifetime moments, and alternate persectives and angles). My methods for processing your image files the most time intensive and use the most expensive software, but the quality of the images is far superior to the simpler methods used by most photographers.
In addition, I use the most technologically advance equipment and software to produce the best possible product. I also spend more money on education than most photographers. I feel this is a better investment than spending lots on marketing, and in return, I am able to gain most of my clients through referrals based on the quality of my work.
Why don't I see your name in much print advertising?
I choose to spend more money on education than most photographers. I feel this is a better investment than spending lots on marketing, and in return, I am able to gain most of my clients through referrals based on the quality of my work.
What do you recommend when looking for a wedding photographer?
I believe that you need to try to find a photographer that is a match for your prefered style of photography, your wedding budget, and your personality. Personality is a huge factor when you consider that you will be spending more time with your photographer on your wedding day than anyone else. A great photographer can make your day more relaxed and fun, and that will be evident in your expressions in your images. Likewise, a bad match can be a big downer to your day, and you will see the results in the "stiffness" of your images. Many people have categorized my style as being "natural." I would attribute 80% of that to how I interact with my clients, and 20% to my photographic techniques.
In addition, make sure you look at the full coverage from a single wedding to assure that the photographer has consistently great coverage and quality. I take over 2000 images in a typical wedding. If I gave my camera to my 12-year-old son and put it on an automatic mode, I guarantee he could get at least 3 images per wedding that would be good enough to create a decent website. So, to determine the true skills of a photographer, look at a full wedding of coverage. You can contact me at any time to see a currently active wedding gallery. This will also show you the interface you can expect when your guests come to see your wedding images.
Do you offer workshops for other photographers?
Yes, I have begun offering workshops at Emerald Isle with fellow photographer, Leslie Mills. We have also been guest speakers for professional photography organizations affiliated with the Professional Photographers of America. We are always planning new events, so if you are an amateur or a professional looking to further your own educations or skills, please let me know and I would gladly add you to our email notification list.
